I just love that place and the people... une experience inoubliable. Le plus bel exemple de partage et de generosite jamais vecu a ce jour, une profonde humanite dont le monde occidental devrait s'inspirer!

This initiative is for people who wish to take lessons and workshops, whilst living in Oterama, in the following areas:
- traditional Are'are dance
- traditional Are'are pan pipe construction and playing techniques
- music overview, including traditional tapping tubes, log drumming, thong-o-phones, conch shells, mouthbow
- Are'are traditional culture, including their subsistence gardens, fishing, canoe paddling, traditional ovens, language, history, food collection and other practices
As part of this cultural exchange, and to give real insights into the subsistence lives of the people, we would ask you to work for four hours in the gardens which produce the food you will be eating. Its all organic! This will integrate you into the day-to-day life of the village and provide a beautiful walk up through the virgin rainforest and into the hills above the village.
Please note: Travel to Oterama, to study with Narasirato, requires you to be available for a minimum two week stay in the Solomon Islands. Travel arrangements can be interrupted by inclement weather and departure dates/times occasionally vary from itineraries. The best time to visit is between April and August.
For more detailed information have a look at our [Frequently Asked Questions] page or
If you are interested in participating, either as an individual or in a group (up to four people), please fill out and submit the following expression of interest. Note that we cannot always guarantee a place in these courses.
